• Account Information: Phone number, username, display name, profile photo, and bio
• Content: Videos you record and upload, comments, direct messages, and reactions
• Communications: Feedback, support requests, and correspondence with us

• Location Data: Approximate location (city-level) to show local content and enable geographic features. We do not track precise GPS coordinates continuously.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Features used, videos watched, time spent in app, interactions
• Log Data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, app crashes

2.3 Information from Third Parties

• College Verification: If you verify a college affiliation, we may receive confirmation from educational email providers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Show you relevant, location-based content
• Enable features like leaderboards, streaks, and direct messaging
• Send notifications about activity on your account
• Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
• Monitor and analyze usage trends
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Video Content & Expiration

Videos posted on Portal are automatically deleted from our servers 48 hours after posting. This is a core feature of our platform.

• After 48 hours, videos are permanently removed from public feeds
• Cached versions on devices may persist briefly after deletion
• We may retain content longer if required by law or to investigate violations
• Users who share or download videos before expiration are responsible for those copies

5. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these circumstances:

When you direct us to share information with third parties.

5.2 Publicly Visible Information

Your username, display name, profile photo, videos, and comments are visible to other users based on your privacy settings.

5.3 Service Providers

We use trusted third parties for:

• Cloud hosting and data storage (Supabase, Cloudflare)
• Push notifications (OneSignal)
• SMS verification (Bird)
• Analytics (to improve the App)

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Portal, our users, or others.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Encryption at rest for sensitive data
• Access controls and authentication
• Regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights & Choices

7.1 Account Information

You can update your profile information at any time through the App settings.

7.2 Delete Your Account

You can delete your account in App Settings > Delete Account. This will:

• Remove your profile and all associated data
• Delete your videos immediately (don't need to wait 48h)
• Remove your comments and messages

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

7.3 Location Data

You can disable location access in your device settings. Note that this will limit app functionality.

7.4 Push Notifications

You can manage notification preferences in App Settings or your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Portal is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

10. California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including:

• Right to know what personal information is collected
• Right to request deletion of personal information
• Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell data)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights
