Why does my social media feed feel so fake?
Short answer
Because a growing share of it is: AI-generated posts, bot engagement, recycled viral clips and paid content are all optimized to hold attention, not to show you real life.
What to know
- Algorithmic feeds reward whatever keeps you scrolling.
- AI makes it nearly free to produce endless content.
- Bots inflate likes and comments to make posts look popular.
- Local, live and camera-only feeds feel more real because they're harder to fake.
