The Best Social App for College Students in 2026
Instagram is for everyone. Yik Yak and Fizz are anonymous. Portal is built for what college actually looks like: real moments, on campus, with people you know.
What college students want from a social app
- A place to post that parents and randoms can't see
- Knowing what's going on around campus right now
- Something fun to compete on
- Real people, not bots and AI accounts
Why Portal fits
- College-only feeds. Verify with your .edu email and post college-only. Non-students can't see it.
- Campus leaderboards. See the top creators at your school.
- College vs college. Schools compete against each other, scored per student, so smaller schools can win too.
- Real-time moments. Game days, tailgates, parties and dorm life, in the moment.
- No AI. Camera-only posting keeps it real.
Texas schools on Portal
Portal started with Texas campuses including UT Austin, UTSA, Texas State and Texas A&M, and it's open to students everywhere in the US.
